CryptoNinja, the NFT collection from Japan, has more than 7800 community participants. Find out why so many creators and collectors love it.
What is CryptoNinja?
CryptoNinja is an NFT collection launched on 20 September 2021 by an influencer with 326,000 followers (@IHayato). He is also a well known NFT collector (CryptoPunk #2280, BAYC #5643).
What makes this collection so unique is all hand drawn and one of a kind. It is created by a popular illustrator (@rii2_4 / 29,000 followers) and for the time being, “only 50 pieces” are planned to be released.
The influencer-produced collection attracted a lot of attention and the NFTs were sold one after another. At the moment (December 2021), 26 pieces are in the hands of different owners. Although there are many collectors who would like to buy them, they rarely enter the secondary market and the current floor price is 18.5 ETH.
3 Features of CryptoNinja
The main feature of CryptoNinja is “Ninja DAO”, a community of over 7,800 people. This community is made up of illustrators, graphic designers, avatar creators, manga creators, novelists, animators, musicians, teachers, bloggers, investors, marketers, and many other professionals.
How did Ninja DAO become such a large and active community? It is because of the thriving “Fan art” by creators.
In CryptoNinja, anyone can create secondary works as long as they follow the guidelines, and monetize them by selling NFTs, avatars and original goods. Creators can freely create and monetize their works in a way that is unthinkable in the Japanese intellectual property business. As a result, creators in Japan and abroad are challenging “CryptoNinja fan art” and taking the first step toward NFT sales.
NFT collection @CryptoNinja_NFT by a Japanese influencer @IHayato has reached 105 ETH total trades in just 18 days. And then there are the creators who have become popular as a result of this FAN ART challenge.#nft #NFTCommunity #NFTjapan— Crypto Box (@cryptobox_jp) October 8, 2021
In addition, the spread of the community and fan art has attracted many people to the events and seminars held in the metaverse. Currently, Christmas and New Year events are also being planned.
Success of Charity Auction
In October 2021, the NFT Charity Auction was held together with PLAS, an NGO that supports AIDS orphans in Africa. It attracted a lot of attention as it was an unprecedented challenge in Japan. In the end, a famous artist（@mandy_s_mandy）won the NFT for 14 ETH, and the entire amount was donated to PLAS.
PLAS is an NGO that supports AIDS orphans in Uganda and Kenya. They launched a charity auction of NFTs in collaboration with Japanese influencer @IHayato today. The NFT in the auction is the 20th piece of #CryptoNinja, one of the most popular collections in Japan. https://t.co/Refp310wPN— Crypto Box (@cryptobox_jp) October 18, 2021
Governance token distribution
In December 2021, the Ninja DAO distributed governance tokens to community members. There is also a popularity contest for characters using these tokens. The deadline for voting is January 3, 2022 at 12:00 (JST).

Collaboration with CryptoNinja
A new project launched by the CryptoNinja community. It’s a school in the metaverse called “Ninja Terakoya” where children can learn and create their own comfortable place. It’s a very exciting project with experts from various fields.https://t.co/nbgA1z9Cx3 https://t.co/969WeuccNL— Crypto Box (@cryptobox_jp) December 13, 2021
As of December 2021, official CryptoNinja NFTs are still being released a few items per month. Many collectors, including myself, are eager to buy them, but it is not easy to do so. In addition, due to the lack of secondary distribution, the growth of sales as “NFT collection” is also slow.
On the other hand, the number of participants in the community (Ninja DAO) continues to grow. In 2022, CryptoNinja will be known even to those who are not interested in crypto and NFTs.
Even if you don’t have NFT, you can join the community. Although there are many Japanese speakers, English channels and promotional channels are also available. Let’s take a peek into the world of Ninjas.
